Interview With Ronnie V. (War Hound)

Hey Ron, please introduce yourself.
My name is Ronnie Vinal, I was born in Southern California. Im 23. I wake up every morning and hardcore is the first thing i think about. Its been that way since I was 14 years old.
You’re living in Chicago now, could you tell us something about the scene up there.
The scene in chicago has grown so much since I’ve moved here in 2009. Chicago Hardcore is a place of community. Chicago hardcore is all about the movement in what hardcore actually is. Everyone involved with the scene here loves it and lives for it, the shows are fun and violent, but very very warming and welcoming. I Love it here.
Knowing you’re in BTL, being a member myself I know what it stands for, but could you please give the readers a further insight of it?
Born to Lose is a crew that was started for the sole purpose to make sure hardcore grows as much as possible. We are a crew that only lives for giving back to hardcore what has been given to us. We Book shows, stop fights and protect this scene. We welcome anyone and everyone that wants to give hardcore a chance.
BTL is trying to preserve hardcore, not just in the U.S. but all over the world. We all give back
We are an organized hardcore commuinty and we feel alot of people either dont know or forgot that that’s what we need as a hardcore community is to give back not to just hardcore but to eachother as well.
What’s the newest of the news with War Hound?
Warhound is gonna be coming out with our first full length release, titled Colder Than Ever, to be released on Iscream records. We plan on touring ALOT all over the world, and while doing so hopefully spread the morals and views of what hardcore should be about
which individuality, honor, respect, tradition, and truth.
We hope to open up people minds with our message and hopefully, have alot of fun doing so.
We all appreciate the fact that we have gotten so much attention, we are totally taking advantage of this in every way. Like I said we plan on touring alot this year and we hope to meet and see alot of cool people
and do alot of cool things.
What other bands were you playing in? I think a lot of people don’t know about them? ;)
Well my first Hardcore band was a band called Lay down my Life, i was 15. It was a christian straight edge hardcore band. We played one show. Shortly after, Id say two years later, I started another hardcore band called End of Time, based out of Corona California, which at the time had the best scene in southern California. After End Of Time, I moved to Chicago and joined an awsome band called Chances’r, based out of the Chiago suburbs, and at the same time I joined a band called Any Given Second
from Indiana. After I moved back to southern California, I was looking to start a “NYHC” style band and so after a few months of looking for the right people me and my friends Dorian, Omar, and Rudy started a band called Soul Search. Me and dorian wrote the Intolerable Weight 7inch and I got to play 2 shows with the band until I was going thru some living issues and had to move back to Chicago, where as soon as I moved back
in the summer of 2010 I was asked to be apart of what now is War Hound
I was also in a few side projects like Alpha Male, Life Is Pain and currently have 2 others as well, Ugly and Headstomp. While Ugly is f.f.o. of Type O Negative and Only Living Witness
and Headstomp is for fans of the OLC but were not an edge band, just pissed off haha and that’s about it.
BTL Chicago is putting on shows, which bands did the Mid-West pack put on so far and who should they hit up if they want to play a show?
IF ANYONE WANTS to play chicago, email: War Hound, No Zodiac or No Regrets.
We have booked alot of great bands including:
Twitching Tongues, Deathbed, True Life… and also almost all bands in chicago, but yea again if any band wants to play a badass, drama free show with hard as fuck mosh, and good vibes come to chicago.
Thanks for the chat, any shout outs?
I WANNA GIVE A SHOUT OUT ABLAZE, EVERYONE IN THE BTL WORLDWIDE FAMILY. I WANNA GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE CHICAGO HARDCORE BANDS. ALL MY GUYS IN NEW YORK, SOCAL, VIRGINIA BEACH, I WANNA GIVE A BIG THANK YOU TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE THAT CAN SEE WHAT CHANGE BTL IS TRYING TO MAKE IN HARDCORE, AND THAT SUPPORTS WHAT WERE DOING. EVERYONE NEEDS TO REALIZE ONE THING, WE NEED EACHOTHER. MUCH LOVE & GIVE BACK.
